Celebrating our mums-to-be and midwives

3:03pm Wednesday 13th June 2007

The only shop in Pembrokeshire to specialise in maternity wear, accessories and nursing wear, is paying tribute to the essential work of local midwives.

Mum2B opened in Pembroke last September to cater for pregnant and nursing mothers.

Co-owners Vickie Golding and Jude Davies, who are both mothers themselves, opened the shop after growing frustrated with the lack of provision for pregnant women and those who are breast-feeding.

The shop has a comprehensive range of maternity wear, nursing wear and accessories and offers a free bra fitting service. All ages, all shapes and all sizes of mum will find something here to suit them, from sizes 8 to 30.

Vickie and Jude, catering to customer demand, have also recently branched out into gifts for mother and baby. The internet-based business Little Stork Baby Boxes, has now introduced its unique range of gifts at Mum2B.

"The Nappy Cakes and Welsh language clothing are unique to Pembrokeshire. If you are looking for that special gift for the new mum and baby, come to Mum2B," said Jude.

The pair are now calling for nominations for the Midwife of the Year competition.

Vickie said: "This award is in recognition of the essential services of midwives and to show our appreciation for their hard work and long hours."

The winner of this award will be announced at a fun day fashion show to be held on the shop's first anniversary on September 9th. The event will be held in Pembroke (location to be confirmed) in aid of the Withybush maternity unit.

The shop is also hosting a free prize draw with the chance to win £50 to spend in store. The winner will also be drawn and announced at the fashion show.
