Myra Shacklady, commercial director of Milford Haven Port Authority, has been nominated for a prestigious national award which celebrates pioneering businesswomen.

She has been shortlisted in the tourism and leisure category of the CBI/Real Business First Women Awards for her contribution as the first female director in the 50-year history of the port authority and for her work developing cruise ship calls to Milford Haven.

Myra is due to leave her post in the next few weeks to become business development director for Jersey Harbour The awards, due to be revealed at a ceremony in London yesterday, recognise women who have broken new ground in British business life.

They feature an array of high-achieving, entrepreneurial businesswomen drawn from across the UK and aim to unearth and unveil a new generation of role models.

Chief executive Ted Sangster said Myra reaching the shortlist for the award was a tremendous achievement. He told the Telegraph before the ceremony: "All of us at the port authority congratulate Myra on this exciting nomination, and wish her the best of luck," he said.

"It only underlines what we will be losing when she leaves us. We will be sad to see her go, but wish her well in her new job in Jersey."
