Among the projects short listed in north Pembrokeshire are repainting the outside of Yr Hen Ysgol in Dinas Cross and repainting some of the rooms of Point Youth Centre run by Fishguard and Goodwick Young Persons’ Trust Ltd. For both projects, High Sheriff helper Brian Murray is looking for volunteers to help with the painting, and for generous builders’ merchants and DIY companies to donate paint and painting equipment. Says Brian: “The Go M.A.D. funds don’t stretch to doing every project on the short list so we really need local businesses and individuals to help by donating materials and labour.”

The picture shows Yr Hen Ysgol management committee members Pete and Sheila Duffill measuring up the building with High Sheriff volunteer Brian Murray, to work out how much paint they’re going to need to give the building a face lift.

Yr Hen Ysgol is now a community centre owned and run by the people of Dinas Cross to provide education, health and leisure activities for all ages. Point provides young people aged 11 – 25 with a drop-in service and activities that help them build self-esteem, skills and confidence.
