Gearing up for a soup-er festival
9:00am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in County News
Fishguard and Goodwick's second Autumn Festival, organised by the area’s Round Table, kicks off today (Wednesday).
After a successful inaugural festival last year this year’s event looks to be bigger and better, with involvement from local businesses, food and drink producers and musicians.
The five-day event will be held in the twin towns between October 31st and November 4th.
Events planned for this year’s festival so far include the famous cawl challenge – where local establishments compete to produce the best dish – two cook-offs, a local producers market and a progressive supper.
Other attractions range from a duck race, vintage tractor run, cawl a chan evening and a special comedy club showcasing local talent honed at a series of workshops at Theatr Gwaun. There will also be live music in local pubs, cookery workshops, food trails, a historical tapestry walk and special menus in local restaurants.
“The festival will include all the qualities of the area; music, culture, food and drink, as well as many different groups from the community as possible,” said Marc Owen, chairman of Fishguard and District Round Table.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate the depth and variety of Welsh local produce, culture and community in the Fishguard area.”
