People who would otherwise be alone this festive season are being invited to attend a special Christmas Day event hosted by Milford Haven mayor Guy Woodham.

Conscious that there are people in the community who are alone at Christmas, Cllr Woodham has organised Christmas Together to be held at Pill Social Centre from 11am until 6pm on Christmas Day.

It is hoped that a minimum of 100 people will enjoy a three-course meal and entertainment with Cllr Woodham and his family, offering companionship on what can potentially be one of the loneliest days of the year.

Cllr Woodham said: “While there are many recognised good causes, loneliness is one that still suffers from a certain degree of social stigma yet can have a very damaging effect on someone’s mental and physical wellbeing”.

There is no charge to attend as the event is supported by the Mayor’s Charity Fund.

Free transport will also be provided to assist those who would not otherwise be able to make it.

Cllr Woodham said: “The support for this event from businesses, organisations and individuals has been magnificent. I really hope people will come forward and help make the day a fantastic success.”
