Chance to comment on school homes plan
9:00am Tuesday 26th February 2013 in County News
The public has until tomorrow (Wednesday) to comment on plans to develop housing on the site of the closed Mount School.
Pembrokeshire Housing Association has submitted an application to build 21 properties on the 0.74 hectare site.
The school was controversially closed in January 2009 despite a long campaign to keep it open, including demonstrations at the gates.
Projected falling pupil numbers were behind the decision to close the school and children from the Mount were transferred to the Meads School.
In October 2009 the county cabinet agreed a recommendation that the school be disposed of and used for housing.
Pembrokeshire housing has now submitted an application for a mix of detached and semi-detached bungalows, alongside semidetached houses.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the site had previously seen crime and disorder and backed the plans.
Comments on the development must be received by Pembrokeshire County Council by February 27th.
