The extension to the licence of a Milford Haven Hotel, previously described by police as ‘a haven for criminals’, is due to be decided today.

The Haven Hotel has applied to extend the hours it can supply alcohol to 9am to 1am, Monday to Saturday, and 9am to midnight on Sunday.

It has also applied for a number of other extensions, including increasing its opening hours to 6am to 1.30am, Monday to Saturday, and 6am to 12.30am on Sunday.

The hotel’s licence was revoked by Pembrokeshire County Council in November 2011, but before an appeal hearing in May moderation between the licence holder, police and council licensing department resulted in a reduced licence being granted.

The county licensing subcommittee met last month to decide on the application. However, Dyfed- Powys Police licensing officer Nigel Hayes was not able to attend the meeting and the force was unable to send another senior officer.

Sandra Watt, premises licence holder, had been contacted by the police and said she was happy to adjourn the application until next month.

The application will now be discussed at the licensing sub committee’s February 26th meeting.
