Event to put women in the picture
1:50pm Friday 8th March 2013 in County News
The people of St Dogmaels are being invited to get together tomorrow (Saturday) for an all-day marathon photography event to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Two hundred cameras will be distributed for the event which is open to St Dogmaels and surrounding area.
Registration will take place at St Dogmaels Memorial Hall from 10am.
Topics to be photographed will be revealed to participants on the day and will be abstract and open to interpretation.
The project team will use ‘Visible Women’ as the inspiration with the aim of highlighting the important roles women play in the community.
There will be a follow-up event on Saturday, March 30th, when entries will be displayed and winners announced.
This will include a ‘people’s vote’ via ballot for their favourite set of images. Prizes will be donated by local businesses.
The event will include the first showing of a video filmed with local community groups and the school in the weeks leading up to the event.
Images taken during the marathon will also be displayed around the village throughout the Easter holidays (including enlargements of all the winning images) and a free tourist map will show where all of the images can be found.
The event is being organised by Ysgol Llandudoch PTA, The Marmaladies (St Dogmaels WI) and St Dogmaels Youth Club.
