Three jailed after night of terror at park

Three youths who terrorised a family holidaying at Kiln Park have been jailed.
Daniel Storer, aged 18, of Park Road, Tenby, and Jacob Webster, also 18, of Gray Avenue, Manorbier, were sent to a young offenders’ institution for 12 months after being convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm.
Joseph Farrell, 19, of Church Park, Tenby, admitted the offence and was sent down for 14 months.
Patrick Griffiths, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court how the youths had become drunk on August 14th, 2011, and in the early hours of the following morning decided to walk to Kiln Park caravan park “for no reason other than to cause trouble”.
Storer began banging on the side of a caravan where Christian Lee Collins, his partner and four children were sleeping, and began threatening to cut Mr Collins’ head off.
Mr Collins’ partner telephoned the police while her husband went out to confront them.
Mr Griffiths said initially Mr Collins got the better of Storer but had to release him when he was attacked by the other two.
Mr Collins was then hit, kicked and stamped on and still required treatment for some of his injuries.
Storer admitted having been drunk but added that all he could remember was Mr Collins putting him in a headlock.
The judge, Mr Recorder Gregory Treverton-Jones, said the courts would, and must, step in to protect decent law-abiding citizens.
All three defendants, he said, came from good families, but they had inflicted a vicious and dangerous attack on a stranger.
Farrell had been the most vicious but it had been Storer who had started the trouble.
Mr Collins, he said, had been perfectly entitled to protect his family and his property and could easily have used greater force than he had.
The judge described the attack as disgraceful, frightening and sustained and said only immediate custodial sentences were justified.
Farrell received a discount for pleading guilty.
