WHAT have a rugby legend, a former Labour party leader and a child opera star all got in common?
They have all joined the cast of a film version of Under Milk Wood which is being shot in the harbour village of Solva over the next few weeks.
The adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ famous radio play stars Welsh actor Rhys Ifans, who will play First Voice in the film.
Charlotte Church has been cast in the role of Polly Garter, while Lord Neil Kinnock and Gareth Edwards will make guest appearances.
Dozens of villagers have also been cast as extras.
The film is directed by Kevin Allen, who was behind the cult Welsh film Twin Town.
Kevin said: "We want to veer away from delivering a dull, literal reflection of Thomas's original work, intending instead to explore some of the more erotic, visceral elements of the richly funny, filthily fluid, magical dreamscape - whilst not stooping to mess with Thomas's original text."
The only other film version of Under Milk Wood was made in Fishguard in 1971, starring Richard Burton.
The production, which is being partly financed by S4C, will be filmed in English and Welsh, with the former being broadcast at Christmas and the latter sold for worldwide viewing.
