A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries yesterday (Sunday) evening after a three-vehicle collision between two motorcycles and an ambulance on the main road into Tenby.

The incident occurred at around 6.23pm on the A478 Narberth Road, close to the entrance of Park House Court Nursing Home.

The road between the New Hedges roundabout and Tenby closed for nearly six hours afterwards, with traffic diversions operating via Devonshire Drive and the B4318 road at Gumfreston until around 12.15am today.

A police spokesman said that the motorcycles involved in the collision were an orange Honda CBR and a black Suzuki GSX.

One of the riders was taken by Wales Air Ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff with serious injuries, while the other was taken to Withybush Hospital by ambulance.

The rider who sustained serious injuries is in a critical condition, and the rider of the other motorcycle remains in hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The road re-opened by approximately 12.15 this morning.
