A shop supporting the only charity in the country dedicated to horses and ponies over the age of 15 is re-launching tomorrow (Sunday).

The Veteran Horse Welfare charity shop has moved to a more central location; 5-6 Priory Street Cardigan. Their grand opening is from midday on Sunday, August 3.

Opening the shop will be Welsh celebrity Debra Griffiths, who starred in reality TV show Coal House and also regularly appears regularly on Pobol y Cwm and Casualty. Debra and her family will be appearing in the costumes they wore on the TV show; shop staff will also be wearing Victorian attire.

There will be face painting, a lucky dip and a free toy for the children. Freshly made local cakes and refreshments will be served and Debra will be drawing the raffle and launching a new loyalty rewards scheme.

Every customer who buys three items on the day will have the cheapest for free and, weather permitting, one of the charity’s ponies will also be in attendance.

The charity aims to promote the care and welfare of all veteran horses and ponies ensuring that they receive a good quality of life in their later years. It also provides a re-homing service for people struggling to care for their veterans. The charity offers a house clearance service and can collect larger donated items. New volunteers are always welcome and can ring 01239 623594 for more information.
