CARNIVAL fever well and truly hit Pembroke Dock on the weekend as the town enjoyed its biggest procession in many years.

Hundreds turned out to support Pembroke Dock Harlequins RFC 2014 carnival on Saturday (August 2).

Led by the Freystrop vintage steam engine, carnival-goers made their way from Albion Square to the Quins.

Among the guests of honour were Pembroke Dock mayor Councillor Pam George, club sponsor Dave Harris and Peter Harris of Main Port Engineering, and committee member David Mathias.

Also joining the procession were Vibe School of Dance, military vehicles, Pembroke Borough Band and soap box entries.

Carnival Queen Kloe Richards and her two attendants, Kara McIntyre and Keira Edwards, stole the show on their castle float.

The float winners were The Three Legged Funny Farm (£200), followed by Youth Beach Party in second place (£100) and First and Last in third (£50).

The fancy dress winners were Toy Story, with Snow White and the Seven dwarfs in second place and The Flying Dockers third.

Carnival chairman Mike Scourfield said: “It's definitely the best procession we have had for many years.

“A lot of hard work was done by the carnival committee to ensure the day was a success for the club. Without them it could not have happened.”
