A drunk Pembroke teenager threatened to rape a police officer’s wife and “eat his babies”, Haverfordwest Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

Unemployed Macauley Breen, 18, of Shoulder of Mutton, pleaded guilty to behaving in a way likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He also admitted assaulting PC Shaun Doble.

The court heard that on August 4, police attended Upper Frog Street in Tenby after door staff at the Prince of Wales nightclub reported a group of people acting aggressively.

Breen was part of the group.

“The defendant was restrained, and was shouting some fairly alarming things,” said Peter Lloyd, prosecuting.

“He said ‘I’m going to eat your babies, I’m going to kill you and I’m going to rape your wife.”

A woman present at the scene described the defendant as a “disgusting animal”.

Breen spat at PC Doble and attempted to bite him on the leg.

When PC Doble attempted to handcuff him, Breen dug his fingernails in to the back of the officer’s hand, causing a small cut.

Matthew Greenish, defending, said Breen wished to apologise for his behaviour.

“He accepts that what he did was totally unacceptable.

"He has a limited recollection of what happened that night, as he had consumed too much alcohol,” Mr Greenish explained, adding that his client was “not a big drinker”.

“He has issues, and he’s been using legal highs.

"He suffers from relapses, gets withdrawal symptoms and goes back on them,” said Mr Greenish.

“A week before this incident, he stopped taking them, and he thinks that might have affected his behaviour.”

Probation Officer Julie Norman, who had been asked by magistrates to prepare a pre-sentence report, told the court Breen displayed behavioural problems at school and at college, had no qualifications and “just stays in bed” all day.

“He is a young man in need of guidance,” she said.

Magistrates sentenced Breen to a 12 month Community Order with supervision, to include 160 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to PC Doble and costs totalling £145.
