Protestors gathered outside County Hall today (Thursday) to make their voices heard over Bryn Parry-Jones’ payout and the suspension of the disciplinary process.

The demonstration, organised by the Green Party, was attended by around 20 brave souls whose banners were battered by heavy rain and strong winds.

They called for councillors and officers to come out and talk to them and demanded a public inquiry into the way the chief executive’s exit was handled.

“I think it is just incredible that they can award over quarter of a million to the chief executive while normal people are made to face austerity,”said Green Party Parliamentary candidates, Frances Bryant. “It would take a nurse 15 to 20 years to earn that money.”

Pam Jones, a retired social worker, added: “He has been paid to sidle away. I think he should have faced the disciplinary procedure which had been started.

“From my point of view as a rate and tax payer; staff are being re-graded and down-graded, being paid less money to do less work. We are all being told about austerity but they can find this huge amount of money to end a sorry saga.”

Jim Scott, Pembrokeshire Green Party electoral returning officer, said: “It’s become apparent to everyone in Pembrokeshire who witnessed the Bryn Parry Jones fiasco and the scandal that he’s bought to Pembrokeshire that it’s a “boy’s club” for want of a better word.

“People have seen the list doing the rounds of the so called ‘independent’ councillors and the others who voted for this unseemly hand out, so they had better be prepared for a clear out at the council elections in 2017. The people of Pembrokeshire have had enough.”
