PROPOSALS for a new “glamping” site in the south Pembrokeshire countryside look set to be rejected by planners today (Wednesday).

In an application to the National Park Authority development management committee, Mr W Staniland is seeking to diversify Brumwells Garden Machinery at Jameston by providing 12 sustainable wigwam lodges on adjacent land.

He is also looking to link the existing dwelling of Badgers Holt as a live-work dwelling for the two businesses.

The meeting onJanuary 21, is being recommended to refuse the plan, which has been created to keep the garden machinery business going following changes in retailing patterns.

The business has been for sale for over two years without interest, and now only employs three family members on a part-time basis.

But this is not enough to override the adopted policies of the National Park.

Members are due to be told, as officers felt that the development of the site would “comprise a clear extension of the built area of Jameston into open countryside”.
