PLANNING permission for a 31-property housing development in New Hedges looks set to be granted by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority today (Wednesday).

The application, by landowners Hean Castle Estates, is for a three-phase scheme on land to the rear of properties at Cross Park at the top end of the village.

Residents and the local community council have raised concerns including loss of privacy for those living in both Cross Park, and Hunters Park to the south and the potential for an increase in flooding on the land.

A report to the park authority’s development management committee next Wednesday recommends granting of approval is delegated to senior officers, with conditions the developer enters into a satisfactory Section 106 agreement.

This would commit to the provision of affordable housing on site – two one-bedroom flats and four two-bedroom houses – and total contributions of more than £3,000 for each property.

These would be divided between enhancement of education facilities, highway works and improvements, upgrading the local play area and adding to community facilities. There would also be a new site access constructed and realignment of the bus stop.
