Milford Fish Festival is to take place at Milford Fish Docks on Saturday 27th June, the Port of Milford Haven has confirmed.

The family focused, fish-themed event is being organised by the Port with the support of Pembrokeshire County Council so that businesses in the town don’t lose out on the massive increase in tourism revenue that is generated by the thousands of people who normally attend the opening day of Pembrokeshire Fish Week.

Earlier this month Pembrokeshire County Council said Pembrokeshire Fish Week would be cancelled due to the illness of one of the event's main organisers.

Alec Don, Chief Executive at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “Milford Fish Docks is still Wales’ largest fishing port and although this is not an event we had budgeted for, it has come at an exciting time for us. The aim of our £70m regeneration plan for Milford Dock, which was approved this week, is to create a vibrant waterfront destination focused on retail, leisure and fishing.

“Milford Dock is already a hive of activity with a wide range of unique shops and quality restaurants overlooking the tranquil marina. This festival will allow us to showcase these successful businesses, promote the quality of fish that’s landed here and excite visitors and locals about what’s coming.”

Jamie Adams, Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council, commented: “We welcome the Port of Milford Haven’s decision to hold an event at Milford Fish Docks and will be providing as much advice and assistance as possible to ensure that Milford Fish Festival is a success.”

Further details about the event will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if anyone would like to be part of Milford Fish Festival, please get in touch with the Port of Milford Haven’s Marketing Department by emailing info@milfordfishfestival.co.uk or telephoning 01646 696360.
