Stars including actor and comedian Jack Whitehall have been filming at Pembroke Castle this week for what is understood to a film version of hit BBC 3 sitcom Bad Education.

The filming for the Tiger Aspect Productions feature movie, under the working title of Rosebud-The Movie, also features Welsh actor Steve Speirs of Stella fame.

Filming started on March 24, and continues this week up to Saturday from 7am-7pm each day.

In a notification letter sent to local residents and businesses, the production company states: “All the filming will take place within the grounds of Pembroke Castle. The action will involve up to 100 extras with some dressed as police officers. There will also be some scenes involving sword fighting. All of this should be contained within the castle itself and have little negative impact upon the public, residents and local businesses.”

Tuesday saw a low-flying helicopter for stunt work and camera work operating in the town.

Speaking on Monday, Pembroke town councillor Keith Nicholas welcomed the news: “It’s an excellent thing for the town. Bring it on; let Pembroke and the county benefit. Any publicity for the town has got to be good. The castle’s a wonderful attraction; they’ll all be flocking to the town to see a wonderful castle and town.”

This week’s filming in the castle is not the only touch of tinsletown Pembroke is expected to experience this year.

Filming is due to take place in the town during May for what is believed to be a major movie production of the bestselling book Me Before You films on location in Pembroke.

Discussions are ongoing with London’s-based Pinewood Studios to use the town as a location for filming.

Film extras and walk-ons employment agency Casting Collective has been looking for extras for up to three days’ filming in the town during mid May.
