Police have confirmed that a man at the centre of a rescue operation at Pembroke Mill Pond this morning has died.
Emergency services were called to Pembroke’s Mill Pond at 10.35am after a man was seen entering the water.
The man is understood to be 50 years old. No other information as to his identity has been released at present.
Police said:
"Dyfed-Powys Police were alerted to an incident at Mill Pond, Pembroke at around 10.35 this morning. A man was seen to enter the water.
"Other emergency services also attended the scene, but sadly we can confirm the man died."
Coastguard teams from Tenby and St Govans were called to the scene as was one ambulance.
The fire service's swift water rescue team from Milford Haven was also in attendance as well as officers from Dyfed Powys Police.
RAF rescue helicopter 169 was initially requested but was stood down.
Police road closures have since been lifted.
