Candidates in the upcoming election will face a grilling on issues affecting people with disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders at a hustings organised by Pembrokeshire People First (PPF).

Tomorrow, Friday, April 17, in Albany Hall, Haverfordwest, political hopefuls from both Pembrokeshire constituencies and from all parties except UKIP will answer questions on issues affecting this often overlooked strata of society, such as benefits, transport, and work opportunities.

Preseli Pembrokeshire candidates will take to the stage at 9am. Their South Pembrokeshire and West Carmarthen counterparts will be up at 1pm.

“We feel that having a hustings is really important,” said Sophie. “We can get together, ask questions and have our say, and hopefully the politicians will listen to us. I think politicians often forget about the vulnerable, and push our needs down to the bottom of the pile.”

“We want them to know what our views are,” Ed added. “It’s essential they understand how we feel about things and what we need help with. We’d like them to provide better services for people with disabilities. We want to make life better for everybody with disabilities.”

The hustings is open to anyone in Pembrokeshire who has learning difficulties or an autistic spectrum disorder.
