THE doors have opened to Fishguard Arts Society Summer Exhibition at Tregwynt Mansion.

More than 60 artists have contributed pieces and each will be in with a chance of winning the £1,000 prize for the best work, as judged by Arts Council for Wales director David Alston.

Society chairman Gaynor Morin described the collection as ‘stunning.’

She said: “We have an amazing range of sculpture, paintings, films, tapestry and photographs to show to our visitors.

“The exhibition really does reflect the vibrant art scene in north Pembrokeshire, and we are especially thrilled to have national recognition by Arts Council for Wales.”

All visitors are being invited to nominate their favourite work for the ‘People’s Prize’ of £250 – which has been sponsored by Conygar.

Admission to Tregwynt Mansion is free and the exhibition is open daily between 10.30am and 4.30pm until August 15.

As well as the artwork, there will be live performances.

International recitalists Nia Harries (piano) and Sanae Nakajima (piano) perform in the ballroom on the evening of August 13.

Poetry lovers should not miss the Poet’s Atelier with Ring Master Alex Barr on August 8, and witness the combined talents of harpist Delyth Jenkins and storyteller Deborah Winter on August 14.
