A 60-YEAR-old woman has been arrested and released on bail in connection with an allegation of fraud at a Pembrokeshire care home.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “Dyfed Powys Police can confirm it is investigating allegations of fraud in a care home in Pembrokeshire.

"A 60-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of fraud and released on bail pending further police enquiries.”

The news follows an announcement by Pembrokeshire County Council this afternoon that serious concerns have been raised over how Heron's Reef mental health care home in Llangwm is being run.

The county council has said it will end its contract with the independently-run Heron’s Reef home, and find its 10 residents alternative accommodation.

The council’s social care department, along with Hywel Dda health board, Dyfed-Powys Police and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW), says it has been working with the owner and manager over the past several weeks to try and resolve the situation, but without success.

The council has given notice that its contract with the home will end on June 16.

Pam Marsden, Director of Social Services and Leisure, said the authority’s priority was to ensure the needs of all ten residents were properly met, and that the move to alternative accommodation was managed safely.

She added: “The council will be supporting all residents individually to identify other homes and/or services that can provide the care, support and environment to ensure maximum independence and well-being.”

It is anticipated that all Herons Reef residents will have moved from the home by no later than June 16, although some residents may move sooner if they choose.
