PERMISSION for additional storage and a new access at a successful Pembrokeshire business has been approved.

Princess Gate Spring Water’s application was approved at the planning and rights of way committee with the added condition of highway improvements.

The additional storage unit would have a footprint of approximately 3240 square metres and a height of 12 metres. The new entrance is proposed for the south west of the site, leading to the loading bays and holding areas.

The additional condition came after the committee heard from Mary Sinclair, who said that the new entrance for use by articulated lorries ‘because it leaves vulnerable road users having to negotiate their way past them on this narrow road’.

Ms Sincalir said: “I ask on their behalf for the following conditions in the interest of road safety. That traffic calming measures be placed before and after every bend in the road to slow the articulated lorries down.”

These words were echoed by Councillor Tony Brinsden, who said: “My concern is the safety of road users.”

Committee members agreed to add the condition that traffic calming measures under the guise of highway improvements be added to the application.

Councillor Brinsden told that committee that if this condition were added, he would support the application.

The application was moved for recommendation by Cllr Brian Hall, who said: “Princess Gate is a very proactive business, and if any issues with the road were to arise, I’m sure they would resolve them.”

The committee voted unanimously in approving the application.
