A FESTIVAL aiming to 'expand the consciousness' through music, arts, performance and discussion returns to Pembrokeshire this weekend.

Now in its fourth year, Unearthed in a Field festival is a boutique festival set in the heart of the countryside near St Davids and Solva.

“Unearthed stimulates and inspires the senses with experiences that are not generally found in our day to day lives,” said organiser Tim Rees.

The three-day festival, which starts tomorrow, pledges to take its visitors on a musical odyssey through reggae, world and folk music.

Pembrokeshire musicians such as Regime, Jodie Marie and Lucy Jones will grace the stage, alongside a worldwide mix such as Ghanaians Nelson and Friends and Japanese-born Ichi.

Undercover Hippy from Bristol bring a modern Ska vibe to the event, while Rachel Dadd inspires with experimental folk.

Headline DJs such as Derw the Damaja take the beats up a notch with powerful dub in the evenings.

Welsh roots are further celebrated with a classic twmpath Saturday afternoon.

A Speak Easy tent features a fascinating range of daily talks such as ‘Transforming shadows - turning demons into employees’ from Jamie Catto, founding member of Faithless and One Giant Leap films to a talk on ‘Community agriculture’ from local GM campaigner Gerald Miles to ‘Soul manifesto for troubled times’ from Pembrokeshire author, Steve Thorpe.

And don't forget the food, with local and organic vegetarian foods each day such as vegan ice-cream made from coconut nut and cashews by IceGreen and organic wood oven pizzas by St Davids company Torth Y Tir.

Throw in trapeze performances, fire shows, a magician, a kids' tent and workshop area where you can learn to make your own guitar and didgeridoo, take part in singing, mosaic, drumming, daily yoga and meditation, and circus skills, and you have a perfect family festival experience - right on your doorstop.
