SERIOUS concerns over how a Llangwm care home is run have led to the council’s contract with them ending today (Thursday).

Ten residents of the independently-run Heron’s Reef home were found new homes within the county  last month and the home is now closed, a council spokesman said.

The council’s social care department, along with other organisations, Hywel Dda health board, Dyfed-Powys Police and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW), announced in May that they had been working with the owner and manager to try and resolve the situation, but without success.

Pam Marsden, director of Social Services and Leisure, said the authority’s priority was to ensure the needs of all ten residents were properly met, and that the move to alternative accommodation was managed safely.

Following the announcement by the authority last month Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that they had arrested a 60-year-old woman in connection with suspected fraud at a Pembrokeshire care home, the woman was released on bail.

The force said it was investigating allegations of fraud at the facility in connection with a local care home.

A police update today (Thursday) confirmed that the woman remained on bail and no charges had been made.
