AN AWARD-winning body artist from Cilgerran has 'backed' an international peace project with a difference.

Raphaelle Fieldhouse has spent the afternoon painting world flags on her family and friends, as part of the Paint for Peace movement.

Pictures from participants all over the world went live tonight (Thursday, July 21) at 9pm, in a bid to spread love and positivity on social media – a place that has recently been very negative, said Raphaelle.

"The political atmosphere in our own country in the wake of the Brexit vote, plus racial, religious and homophobic attacks across Europe and America has led to a lot of fear and misunderstanding," she said.

"But the world and its diverse people are not all bad.

"This is our way of showing that we care about other humans."

The project will include 257 flags, and Raphaelle's assigned countries were Europa Island, French Guiana, Gibraltar, Glorioso Islands, Jan Mayen, Tokelau and Wales.

Raphaelle is an award-winning face and body painter whose titles include two World Bodypainting Championships and Facepainter of the Year 2016.

She will be exhibiting at Cardigan Show next week and attending Cardigan River and Food Festival, Pembrokeshire Show, Bwlchygroes Vintage Show and the Crug Mawr Festival.

If people have their own facepaints they can also join in by painting themselves (faces and backs only) with flags of their own choice, and using the hashtag #paintforpeace.
