FISHGUARD Young Farmers Club recently celebrated the successes of the past 12 months with their annual end-of-season dinner.

Held at Celtic Camping, St Davids, the evening was well supported by members, past members, club leaders and parents, who all turned out for one of the final events of the calendar before the club AGM on September 1.

Club chairman James George welcomed everyone before giving an insight into how well the club had done over the previous year, including the clubs successes in the Eisteddfod, Welsh and English language dramas, public speaking and Field Day and Rally.

In the week leading up to the dinner, club leaders met to discuss the winners of the Senior Member of the Year and Junior Member of the Year trophies. After much deliberation, club leaders decided that two worthy winners of the Junior Member of the Years couldn’t be separated, and Nia Lloyd and Isabelle Davies were jointly awarded the accolade.

Senior Member of the Year was a slightly easier decision for the club leaders, as Jill Luke Evans received the trophy after a hugely successful year. Jill also received the Most Points in the County Rally trophy, showing her commitment and dedication to her local YFC club.

Club members also voted for their Members’ Member of the Year, and it was tied between Hywel Davies and Sam Kurtz, who were presented the award by outgoing club presidents Haydn and Gillian Davies.

The evening ended with a series of games organised by member Carwyn Rees, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all guests.

Anyone aged between 10 and 26 looking to join Fishguard YFC, please come along to the club AGM on September 1 at the YFC Hall, Scleddau or contact Jill Luke Evans on 07584 620056.
