MARTLETWY’S annual agricultural show has proved a popular event once again, with one of the best-ever attendance figures.

Last Wednesday’s August 24 show, the 65th annual show, was held at Carew Airfield, a venue it has been based at since 2010.

Show Treasurer and Assistant Show Secretary Rachael Matthias said: “It was really good, the weather was good, it was our best year with the best weather we’ve had for a long time.

“Entry numbers were a little bit down but they were of nice quality, with absolutely mases of horticulture, cookery and floral entries, a really good turnout.

“There was a massive vintage machinery turnout this year; we had a couple of parades which went down really well.”

Other attractions were the Quack Pack, the South Pembrokeshire Hunt hounds, and a new attraction, the sheepdog trials, while visitors had a chance to keep cool with the Cowpots ice cream stand proving very popular.

“All in all it was a really good day, really successful, with not a bad word to say about it this year.

“We’re absolutely delighted, it was a brilliant show, probably the best since we moved to Carew. The crowds really were the main thing; and the weather.
