The Good Life in Pembrokeshire will feature on the small screen this month, as Penelope Keith's Hidden Villages showcases some of the county's hidden gems.

In June the actress and presenter filmed in ten different villages throughout Pembrokeshire, exploring both their modern and ancient stories.

Dame Penelope visited St Dogmaels Producers Market where she sampled local fayre and chatted to the stallholders.

The To the Manor Born star also visited Manorbier Castle, where she interviewed castle owner, Dame Emily Naper.

She got a taste of the Pembrokeshire outdoors at Abereiddy's Blue Lagoon where learnt about the history of the area from Martin Roberts of Croesgoch Heritage Group and its modern adventure sport uses from Cleopatra Browne from Celtic Quest Coasteering.

The actress also filmed at Llangwm where she interviewed locals about the village's Flemish links, the Stackpole Estate and Bosherston.

At Lawrenny she attended the village's regatta and explored its links with the Second World War.

The actress also set off into the Preseli Hills, filming at Mynachlog Ddu, where she learnt about the Rebecca Riots and Cilgerran, where she learnt about coracle fishing and the River Teifi.

"Penny doesn't know Pembrokeshire," executive producer Owen Rodd said after they had filmed in the area. "What she has been doing is finding out that there is a lot more to it than just its pretty coastline.

"It's been very clear over the course of filming just how rich the history is, it's been an absolute melting pot of activity since Norman times.

"There is so much going on and so much diverse history and heritage it wasn't a problem to find great characters and people to tell the stories of what has made the villages what they are today."

The Pembrokeshire of Penelope Keith's Hidden Villages is scheduled to air on Wednesday, October 12, on Channel 4 at 8pm.

It will be repeated on Saturday, October 15, on More 4 at 9pm.
