Fishguard and Goodwick's first Land and Sea Fair, last weekend, attracted landlubbers and swashbucklers aplenty, as well as a treasure trove of community spirit.
Howling gales and pouring rain shivered the timbers of the many hardy souls who ventured to the weekend-long fair, organised by the Fishguard and Goodwick Seasonal Events Team
The event’s many attractions included fearsome north Pembrokeshire pirate, Barti Ddu, who was out posing for selfies with young swashbucklers while in the Ocean Lab daring damsel Dani sent mini marauders out to search for pieces of eight on a treasure hunt, raising swag for the Save our Playgrounds Campaign.
Other highlights of the weekend included a marvellous market in the Scout Hall, music from Shooting Counters, junk and craft modelling, youth theatre workshops a fancy dress competition and the Great Pirate Bake off.
“Considering the weather it all went really well,” said organiser Jana Davidson. “The treasure hunt went really well and the market did well, with lots of Christmas presents being bought.
“The funky junk was really-well received and everybody loved the band.
“During the whole weekend the community spirit was brilliant. It’s something that Fishguard and Goodwick does really well and it was there in abundance.”
It is hoped the fair will become an annual event and plans are already afoot to combine it with the Farmers’ Michaelmas next year.
