THE killing of a swan in Withybush Woods on Friday has caused outrage.

The body of a dead adult bird was discovered by two women walking in the woods.

The Western Telegraph understands that the bird, which is believed to have lived at the pond within the woodland for at least two years, had been shot.

The dead bird’s mate was also missing and only one of the pair’s young cygnets was present.

A flock of ducks which also lived on the pond is also said to have disappeared.

Following reports of the shooting, social media users have united to express their disgust at the incident.

Jason Davies said: “Very sad to see this. Hope they catch this vile person.”
