A SECOND tragedy has occurred off the south Pembrokeshire coast within five days.
Police have confirmed that the 72-year-old woman who was discovered in a small cove at the base of a 100-foot high cliff near Skrinkle Haven, Manorbier on Wednesday morning, February 23, was found dead at the scene.
The woman, who had earlier been reported missing, was airlifted by Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 187 following a joint mission with Tenby RNLI and local coastguards that took place in rough seas.
The previous Saturday, February 18, less than two miles away, the body of a man was found on Manorbier beach at 7.30am by a person walking their dog.
In a statement issued this afternoon (Friday),a police spokesman said: "Dyfed-Powys police is investigating the discovery of the body of a 72-year-old woman near Skrinkle Haven at approximately 11.55am on Wednesday February 22, 2017.
"The woman has been identified and next of kin have been advised.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious.
"H.M.Coroner has been informed."
