Police are investigating a sexual assault that led to the closure of a Haverfordwest street this week.

Dyfed-Powys Police said today (Tuesday): "In the early hours of Monday April 17, police received a report of a sexual assault of a female in Dark Street, Haverfordwest.

"Officers commenced enquiries immediately, and a 17 year old male was arrested. He has been released under investigation.

"The female is being supported by specialist officers.

"Police are appealing to anyone who was in Dark Street between 1am and 1.30am on Monday April 17 to contact them, and in particular if anyone saw a female either alone or in the company of a male person between those times at that location to get in touch with them either by calling 101 or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."

The victim was taken to hospital after an incident in Haverfordwest in the early hours of Monday morning (April 17).

An emergency ambulance crew was called to Dark Street at around 1.40am.

The road was cordoned off by police at both the High Street and Mariners Square/Tower Hill ends, and remained closed to traffic and pedestrians until Monday afternoon.
