A £20,000 project to give a Haverfordwest children’s play park a new lease of life is coming to an end.

Work has been carried out for the past 18 months at the Bridge Meadow play area, located on the riverside next to Morrisons supermarket.

The Bridge Meadow Trust, which is administered by Haverfordwest Town Council, has carried out the project.

New swings and four pieces of play equipment have been installed, bushes have been cut back and new daffodils planted.

Chairman of the trust, Cllr Jonathan Collier, hopes the revamped space will continue to be enjoyed by local residents.

“We try and maintain the park to the highest standard we can for the enjoyment of everybody in Haverfordwest,” he said.

“We refurbished the very north end of the park, which had been lost to overgrowth.

“That’s turned into a really nice, quiet spot for people to sit and have a look at the river.”

As the project comes to an end, members of the trust still aim to maintain the green space to a high standard.

“There are small bits and pieces still to do and we will continue to add equipment when necessary and we’ll keep on developing the park,” said trust vice chairman, Cllr Adrian Griffiths.

“It’s a park we’re very proud of, it’s well used and long may it continue to be.”
