THE bid for St Davids and the Hundred of Dewisland to become UK City of Culture in 2021 has launched its official campaign logo as the first stage of the bidding process comes to a close.

The logo is based on the St Davids Cross pattern, which is being used with the support of Melin Tregwynt, who developed the traditional design. The contemporary use of the pattern resembles a hashtag linking in with the #StDavids2021 social media campaign.

Mike Cavanagh, head of cultural services at Pembrokeshire County Council, said: “This fantastic new logo will further promote the unique identity of the St Davids and Hundred of Dewisland bid, as it ties together the natural and built heritage of the area with the historic trades that have endured for centuries.

“We have received valuable feedback from those who have attended the recent public engagement events but we are still keen to get as many people as possible behind our bid. If you want to show your support, you can still do so via the St Davids 2021 social media channels.”

Candidate cities are all preparing to submit their official bids at the end of April with a shortlist due to be released in the summer and the winner announced in December.

An official campaign website is also due to be launched soon.

To show your support for the bid, like the campaign Facebook page www.facebook.com/StDavids2021 or follow @StDavids2021 on Twitter. You can also share your ideas with the bid team via these social media channels.
