ST DAVIDS businesses Dr Beynon's Bug Farm (The Bug Farm) and Grub Kitchen have been recognised in the FSB WorldPay Business Awards for the second year running.

Grub Kitchen, hailed as the UK's first edible insect restaurant, and based at The Bug Farm, was recognised at the Awards as the 2017 Most Innovative Business of the Year in Wales.

In 2016, The Bug Farm won the Best Start-Up Business in the UK. This year, The Bug Farm has won the Green/Ethical/CSR Business of the Year for Wales and was second in the UK finals.

The awards, which recognise and reward excellence and resilience of smaller businesses (with fewer than 250 employees), were this year held in the Underglobe at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.

Hosted by the original winner of BBC's 'The Apprentice', Tim Campbell MBE, the Awards attracted 800 entries. Guest speaker at the glittering ceremony was the leader of the Liberal Democrat Party, Tim Farron.

The wins follow on from The Bug Farm being named as the Most Exciting New Business in the 2017 Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards earlier this year.

While in London, Dr Sarah Beynon (The Bug Farm) and Andy Holcroft (Grub Kitchen) were invited to take part in a panel discussion at Thomson Reuters about the future of insect farming and edible insects in the UK and Europe.

The Bug Farm and Grub Kitchen are open to the public on weekends, bank holidays and every day during school holidays from 10:30am-4:30pm. For more information visit www.thebugfarm.co.uk.
