The new Haverfordwest Pop-up Tourism Information Centre recently welcomed its 1,000th visitor.

The honour was shared by friends Glenys Price and Muriel Forshaw, of Wallasey in The Wirral, who were members of an Alpha coach party staying at the Giltar Hotel, Tenby. Their itinerary included a morning in the county town of Haverfordwest and despite the rain, they said they really enjoyed their visit.

Glenys, who had spent a holiday in Manorbier a few years ago, said: “I loved my stay in the county so much, I told everyone it was lovely and persuaded some friends to come on the coach tour with me. We haven’t been disappointed. There are some pretty places, beautiful flowers and we are looking forward to seeing St David’s Cathedral.”

The Pop-up TIC, which is based in the former Wimpy unit at the Riverside Shopping centre, was launched on May 26 and will remain open to visitors until September 19.

It has welcomed visitors from all over the United Kingdom and many parts of the world, including South Africa, Australia and Europe.

"We remain truly grateful to all our volunteers, without whom, we would not have been able to welcome over 1000 visitors to our town," said Barbara Shone.

The Pop Up still requires volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life.
