A FORMER Pembroke resident, and author, is in the running for a £20,000 prize for his novel based on the town’s most-famous medieval son.

Author Tony Riches has been named as a shortlisted entrant to Amazon’s first UK Storyteller Award for his novel, Henry – Book Three of the Tudor Trilogy.

Tony is now in the running to receive a £20,000 cash prize, a dedicated marketing campaign and access to mentoring and the opportunity to have the book translated for readers around the world.

Tony said: “I was born in Pembroke within sight of the castle, birthplace of Henry Tudor, so I’ve always been intrigued by the story of Henry’s return to Pembrokeshire with a small army to take the English crown from Richard III.”

Henry - Book Three of the Tudor Trilogy is one of six books in the Kindle Storyteller Award shortlist.

“The Kindle Storyteller Award was created to celebrate great stories that resonate with readers,” said EU Kindle Content Director, Amazon, Alessio Santarelli. “It is great to see that readers have chosen books across such a range of genres and we are excited to see which book our judges select as the winner of the inaugural English-language Award.”

The shortlist will now be brought to a panel of judges who will decide upon the winning book, which will be announced at an exclusive invite-only ceremony at the Ned in London later this month.
