DOMINO'S Pizza's plans to move into Tenby have been knocked down.
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's Development Management Committee were meeting this morning to discuss the plan for Domino's to open a branch just yards from the town's war memorial and the historic town walls.
Tenby Town Council and Tenby Civic Society were amongst the objectors to Domino's plan to open up in three newly-built retail units in South Parade, where they would have a 64-seat restaurant as well as a takeaway and delivery facility.
The council described the proposals as "disrespectful", with one member even threatening to resign if the plans were passed.
But today, the application was refused by committee members.
Thirteen letters of objection - one of which represents the residents of the flats above the application site - had been received to the change of use application, raising issues such as detriment to the environment and nuisance from noise, smell and traffic congestion.
Development Management Committee members refused the application on the grounds of loss of amenity, extra noise at night and impact on road safety.
