PUPILS at Fishguard's Ysgol Glannau Gwaun has shown they have pencil power after winning the Big Draw's STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, maths) powered awards, announced earlier this month.

The school took home one of only two primary schools awards for their fully animated film, Maths in Motion, facilitated by Fishguard artist Lizzy Stonhold, was narrated by and created from drawings by Ysgol Glannau Gwaun students exploring maths problems on timetables and sequencing.

The judges called the short film a:

"Truly inspirational and outstanding submission" which "wowed all four judges".

"We were all most impressed with how you interpreted the STEAM theme and integrated drawing, with story board, animation and sequencing skills to fantastic effect," they said.

"Well done Ysgol Glannau Gwaun. Your award is much deserved and you should be proud of yourselves."

As well as the award the school has won £375 to support more creative arts activity within the school.
