A landslip has taken place in a Pembrokeshire village.

Debris from the rock fall above The Strand in Saundersfoot landed on the pavement and a parked Volkswagen Golf Tdi car, causing considerable damage to the vehicle.

Rock and earth cascaded down the steep incline early on Sunday morning. There have been previous slips along the incline in recent years, parts of which are covered in protective netting.

Pembrokeshire County Council received a call to report the incident at around 9.45am on Sunday, and has erected barriers around the debris.

A council spokesman said: "The council is obviously concerned about the condition of the cliffs, and is aware of the wider implications in terms of public safety.

"However, the cliffs at this location are privately owned and not part of the public highway.

"Pembrokeshire County Council will be evaluating this latest rock fall and deciding on further actions in due course."
