Two four-week old puppies were found alone, abandoned and in “terrible condition” near Pembroke Dock train station, prompting an RSPCA Cymru search for information.

RSPCA officers were alerted after the two black and tan lurcher-type pups were found alone, and covered in a greasy oil-like substance, on Hamilton Court in Pembroke Dock town by a passer-by.

They were found on Sunday morning (15 October).

Both dogs were taken to a local veterinary practice, where one was found to be comatose and with exceptionally low glucose levels.

The two dogs were found emaciated, and are now undergoing treatment for fleas and worms, while based with a foster carer.

Anyone from the local community with information is being urged to contact the RSPCA’s inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

RSPCA animal welfare officer (AWO) Andrew Harris has said it is “unthinkable” why anybody would think it acceptable to dump the two puppies in such poor condition.

AWO Harris said: “We were alerted after these two poor puppies, in frankly terrible condition, were found alone, and covered in grease, near Pembroke Dock railway station.

“It is unthinkable why anyone would deem it acceptable to abandon these poor puppies like this – but somebody must have some information about what happened.

“The two pups are continuing with treatment, and are living with a foster carer.

“Anyone who has information about these pups should contact the RSPCA’s inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.”
