There will be a chance to wash away the hangovers in the sea at Whitesands, St Davids on New Year’s Day.

Registration for the annual New Year’s Day swim starts at Whitesands at 11am with swimmers taking the plunge in the chilly waves at midday. Participants must register before entering the water.

The event is organised by St Davids Penkinife Club, a local group dedicated to voluntary fundraising for local groups and charities in the St Davids area. It has raised £14,275 in 2017.

This year’s swim will raise money for Porthmawr Nippers surf lifesaving club as well as other local charities.

Pothmawr Surf Lifesavers and St Davids RNLI will both be on hand during the event to help out and keep the swimmers safe.

Sponsor forms are available from the Farmers Arms Inn, wpreece@globalnet.co.uk or www.penknifeclub.co.uk.

Swimmers enter the water at their own risk and are urged to keep warm and not to drink alcohol. Those over 50 or on medication are advised to check with their doctor before taking part.
