Haverfordwest High VC School is set to be the new name of the 11-19 English language school planned for the County Town.

The name has been put forward by the school's Temporary Governing Body.

There had been widespread negative reaction to the previous proposal to call the school Haverfordia VC High School.

The name will go to Pembrokeshire County Council Cabinet for approval on Monday (January 8).

Haverfordwest High VC School came about following a survey carried out online.

The survey received more than 400 responses.

The report to Cabinet states: "After consideration of these, the TGB proposes that the name of the school should be Haverfordwest High VC School."

Cabinet will also be asked to confirm the name for Haverfordwest's new Welsh language 3-16 school as Ysgol Caer Elen.
