After six years as College Principal and 22 years at Pembrokeshire College, Sharron Lusher has announced that she will be retiring on 30 June 2018.

As Chair of ColegauCymru, and a member of many boards including the Confederation of British Industry, Regional Learning and Skills Partnership and the Haven Enterprise Waterway Zone, during her time as Principal Mrs Lusher has been committed to raising the profile of further education and highlighting its importance in delivering the skills needed for a prosperous economy.

The last six years have seen the College continually investing in improving its quality outcomes and in January 2017 the College received nine Good and six Excellent judgements from Estyn.

FE benchmarking data also ranked the College as the number one General Further Education College in Wales for overall success rates in 2015/16.

During a briefing to staff, Mrs Lusher said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed - and shall miss - working with all the staff and learners at Pembrokeshire College.

"I am so incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a College, a great Estyn inspection and success rates above the national comparator make us one of the best performing College’s in Wales.”

Throughout her tenure, Mrs Lusher has insisted that the learner is placed at the heart of decision making to ensure that the College offers young people the best education opportunities possible whilst also meeting the needs of local employers.

This commitment has seen record numbers of young people progressing to university or into employment.

The College will now advertise for a new principal to take up the post from 1 July 2018.
