The local patients' watchdog has expressed concerned about plans to close Neyland's St Clement's Surgery.

As reported previously, Argyle Medical Group has applied to Hywel Dda University Health Board to close the surgery this spring.

Hywel Dda Community Health council (CHC) said it was also concerned at the way people first learned of the plans through social media on Wednesday evening.

The CHC said: "We understand that the medical practice has tried hard to recruit GPs, and has engaged closely with its patient participation group about its challenges and how it is working to address them.

"However, it is vital that the practice works with the local community, the health board and others to identify the best ways to address the issues it faces so that people living in Neyland and the wider community have access to a safe, good quality GP service when they need it.

"The CHC will be meeting with Argyle Medical Practice in the coming week. We want to hear from people who would be affected by any changes to their GP services.

"You can contact us on 01646 697610 or via email at hyweldda@waleschc.org.uk"

A public meeting has been organised to fight the proposals.

Patients and people living in Neyland and the surrounding areas are asked to attend at Neyland Athletic Club on Thursday January 25 at 7pm.
