THEY say moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do, so just think how hard it would be to find a new home for 6,000 people.

Mind Pembrokeshire - the local branch of the national mental health charity - needs to raise £250,000 to stay in its current location.

The charity's resource centre has been based in the Old Wool Market building in Quay Street, Haverfordwest, for 18 years.

Open 365 days a year for anyone and everyone in need of a friendly ear, it provides more than 1,700 hours of face-to-face support through counselling, crisis support, cooking classes, group activities and more.

In 2017, it worked with more than 6,000 people, both in-person and over the phone.

But this much-loved hub could be forced to move, following the landlord's decision to sell.

Joe Salerno of Mind Pembrokeshire said £50,000 had already been sourced, but another £200,000 is needed by October to take over the building.

"If we have to move, we won’t have this amazing position in town and it will affect a lot of people," said Joe.

"It would be really hard on people to move, this place is so fantastic and is a home from home for many."

"We’ve been a here a long time, and we never ask for donations, we don’t approach people, but we're appealing for people's help now to try and secure this building forever."

Staff member Sara Walters first started working with Mind as a volunteer, but now run's the centre's wellbeing and music groups.

"When I started, I had just closed my own shop which I'd had for year, and I was struggling with my identity a bit.

"Coming here really helped, it's such a great bunch of people and we're right by the river - it's beautiful.

"I loved it so much I never left, and I appreciate it every day. I am so lucky to work here."

As well as a drop-in service, the resource centre also runs walking groups, art classes, woodland conservation projects, men and women's groups, and offers support for those with anxiety, depression, addiction and other conditions.
