A Neyland man has been banned from the road for 15 months after admitting drink-driving.

William John Paul Goodridge, of Rumsey Drive, pleaded guilty to diving with excess alcohol when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday morning.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, told the court that police received information that Goodridge, 57, may have been driving under the influence of alcohol at around 7pm on February 22.

Officers stopped his Vauxhall Astra on Honeyborough Road, Neyland, and described Goodridge as slightly unsteady on his feet and slurring his speech.

He was found to have 60mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35mg.

Mr Pritchard-Jones added that there was no suggestion of bad driving.

Goodridge, who represented himself at the hearing, denied slurring or staggering at the roadside, stating that he had simply been nervous.

He said: “I am very sorry for my actions. I acted irresponsibly, which I regret.”

Goodridge was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 15 months.

He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 surcharge.
