LIFEBOATS launched from Fishguard this morning to aid a yacht stranded on sand outside the harbour.

The RNLI launched its all-weather lifeboat at approximately 8.40am this morning after the owner of a yacht which had become stranded at sandy bottom called for help.

A small daughter boat was launched from the lifeboat to help pull the 30ft yacht from the sand, as the owner was concerned he may have ended up stranded on rocks if left without aid.

The coastguard were the first responders, and kept an eye on the yacht while waiting for the RNLI to arrive.

The RNLI were finished helping by 10am, and left the yacht and its owner to navigate his way back to the harbour.
